The village

  Theologos is a picturesque old mountain village in the heartland, 11km away from Potos and had been the capital of the island in former times.

  In winter the indigenous people live from reaping the olives and producing the delicious and famous Thassian olive oil and from fishing, in summer from tourism.

  You can enjoy tasty food in several traditional Taverns and drink some Greek coffee in one of the old cafenions of the village. Theologos has got a bakery, a supermarket, a butcher and post office.

Surroundings

  Together with the lovely landscape of the olive groves and the forests of pine trees there are also countless dreamy bays with sandy beaches, traditional taverns and idyllic mountain villages.

  The street around the beautiful island is about 100 km, so you can easily visit a lot of nice places, archaeological excavations and the monastery Michail Archangelos with its very old little church and the great view from its large terrace.

  Dive into the ancient world and admire the archaeological excavations in Aliki and in the capital town Limenas. There you can also go to see the ancient amphitheatre and enjoy the great panorama view down to the town and the sea.

Beaches

  On the Isle of Thassos you can find all kind of beautiful beaches, most of them are flat-falling. Worth visiting are such as:

  ALIKI in the south of the island, two beaches with a peninsula. You can go around it and enjoy the stunning view and even visit the archaeological excavations between the two beaches.

  MARBLE BEACH in the north-east of the island. This beach is considered to be the most beautiful one. The water is turquoise and the white sand reminds you of the famous white marble of Thassos.

  GOLDEN BEACH in the east of the island ist he longest and most favoured beach with a great variety of taverns and cafeterias .

  TRIPITI BEACH is near Limenaria

  MAKRYAMMOS is a very wide beach and is said to be as soft as silk by the tourists.

  Pefkari beach near Potos is well-known for offering a variety of watersports and a lot of restaurants and taverns.
